Ukrainian intelligence responds to rumors of Iranian missiles transfer to Russia
Ukrainian intelligence services are verifying information about a possible transfer by Iran of its ballistic missiles to Russia, states Andrii Chernyak, a representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
According to the representative of the military intelligence, this information is being verified and the situation is being monitored.
At the same time, a source in Ukrainian intelligence has told RBC-Ukraine that the transfer of Iranian missiles to Russia is unlikely. The source adds that such facts have not been recorded by Ukrainian intelligence services at the moment.
Iran may have transferred missiles to Russia
Today, the American media outlet Reuters reported, based on its own sources, that Iran allegedly transferred ballistic missiles to Russia, including Fateh-110 family missiles, such as Zolfaghar missiles.
According to three Iranian sources cited by Reuters, around 400 ballistic missiles capable of flying up to 700 kilometers are involved. The supply of missiles allegedly began in early January 2024.
Russia has been persuading Iran to transfer ballistic missiles to it, as reported in the media last year. For more details on this, read the material from RBC-Ukraine.
Foreign weapons in Russia
Iran became the first country to supply weapons to Russia for the war with Ukraine. Thus, the Russian army consistently receives Shahed strike drones from Iran, which are used to attack Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. In addition, Iran helped Russia set up its own production of these drones.
In addition to Iran, North Korea supplies its weapons to Russia. Initially, Russia received artillery shells and ammunition for MLRS from North Korea. However, it recently became known that North Korea has transferred its ballistic missiles to Russia. With these missiles, the Russians have already attacked Ukraine.
