Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has released footage of the recent evacuation of a group of Ukrainian women and children from Lebanon, where the conflict is escalating, according to Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine's Telegram.

The evacuated Ukrainians expressed their gratitude to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, diplomats, and military intelligence staff for their rescue.

"I might not have had another chance to leave the combat zone," said one of the evacuees.

The Ukrainian intelligence also released a video of Ukrainians returning home on an evacuation flight.

Evacuation of Ukrainians from Lebanon

On September 4, Ukraine evacuated 25 Ukrainian citizens from Lebanon, including 14 women and 11 children. The evacuation was organized and carried out by the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

President Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine was among the first countries in the world to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon. As of early August, 30 people had been evacuated from the Middle Eastern country.

Situation in Lebanon

Since October 2023, the Lebanese Islamist group Hezbollah has regularly shelled Israeli territory in support of the Palestinian Hamas movement.

In July, Hezbollah launched rockets at a stadium in the Israeli Golan Heights, killing over 10 children.

This incident significantly escalated the military conflict between the countries.

Since then, the Israel Defense Forces and Hezbollah have exchanged rocket and bomb strikes nearly every day and night.

On September 2, Israeli airstrikes targeted ten Hezbollah launchers in southern Lebanon in response to Islamist attacks on northern Israel.

At the end of August, the Israel Defense Forces struck Hezbollah weapons depots in the Bekaa Valley.

In the United States, there are concerns that the escalation between the countries could develop into a full-scale regional conflict.
