The target of the attack in Russian Tatarstan, which is more than 1,000 kilometers from Ukraine, was a Shahed assembly plant. It was a Defense Intelligence of Ukraine operation, according to a source in the special services.

According to the source, the attack targeted a factory that assembles Shahed kamikaze drones, which the Russians label as Geranium-2.

According to the agency, this is an operation conducted by the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.

The source adds that the strike caused significant damage to production facilities.

Attack on Tatarstan for first time since beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine

Russian media reported today that drones had attacked enterprises in Tatarstan for the first time. According to the media, the companies in Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk were hit. It is alleged that there are victims.

Officially, the local authorities do not name the attacked enterprises. However, it is stated that this is the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, which is located more than 1,000 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. It is worth noting that this economic zone is home to the Elaz-Nefteprodukt oil refinery and the Shahed attack drone factory. There are also dormitories for the workers of this plant. Pro-Kremlin media claim that one UAV hit the plant and two hit the dormitory.

Drone attacks in Russia

Ukrainian drones have recently continued to systematically attack Russian territory. In particular, Russian refineries, even those located hundreds of kilometers away.

Recently, UK intelligence reported that Russian refining capacity is being reduced due to drone attacks, and damaged refineries will take longer to repair due to Western sanctions against Russian companies and a ban on imports of important equipment to the aggressor country.
