Russian forces launched a nighttime attack on Ukraine in the early hours of August 5 using kamikaze drones and a ballistic missile. Ukraine's Air Force reports that most of the enemy targets were intercepted.

"During the night of August 5, the enemy launched 46 Shahed-type strike UAVs and various decoy drones from multiple directions — Kursk, Bryansk, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia — as well as an Iskander-M ballistic missile from Russia's Bryansk region," the Air Force stated.

The assault was countered by Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare (EW) teams, drone system units, and mobile fire groups.

Preliminary data indicate that Ukrainian air defense forces shot down or neutralized 29 Shahed drones and decoy UAVs over northern and eastern regions of the country.

However, 17 drones successfully struck targets in the east. The ballistic missile also hit, and debris from downed drones was found in three separate locations in the south and northeast.
