Ukrainian General Staff clarified number of Russian drones downed overnight
Russian army launched 39 Iranian-made kamikaze drones over Ukraine during the night of September 28. Ukrainian defenders successfully intercepted and downed most of them, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Tonight, the occupiers once again attacked Ukraine with 39 combat drones of the Shahed-136/131 type," the report states.
According to the General Staff, as a result of the defensive efforts and anti-aircraft defenses, 31 enemy Shahed drones were destroyed.
Another Russian attack
Air raid alarm was declared in southern Ukraine in the evening of September 27, and the threat lasted until the early hours of the morning.
The Ukrainian Air Force had warned of possible drone strikes in the Mykolaiv, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions.
As previously stated by the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Natalia Humeniuk, the attack was coordinated and widespread, with Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepting over 30 Shahed drones.
