Frontline situation
General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine debunks Russian claims about the advance of enemy troops in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Due to the lack of significant successes on the battlefield, the Russian army's leadership continues to create the illusion of large-scale victories for its own political leadership and domestic audience.
Russian President Vladimir Putin claims that, since the beginning of 2026, the Russian military has allegedly seized 6,500 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory and 310 settlements. However, Russia's actual gains are 45 times smaller.
However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russians had launched one of the largest attacks on Ukraine's energy sector, attacking over 15 critical energy facilities.
"Yesterday, the Russians carried out one of their largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector – more than 15 critical power generation and transmission facilities were targeted across different regions of Ukraine," Zelenskyy says.
