On the night of May 31, units of Ukraine's Defense Forces struck the Saratovsky oil refinery. A large-scale fire at the facility has been confirmed, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Saratovsky refinery is one of the key oil refining enterprises in the Volga region and is part of the Russian oil company Rosneft.
The plant has a design refining capacity of about 7 million tons of oil per year.
The refinery produces gasoline, diesel, and other types of fuel used, in particular, to support the military logistics of the aggressor state.
The extent of the damage is being clarified.
Other targets included:
- a key element of the aggressor's oil transport infrastructure — the Lazarevo linear production dispatch station in Russia's Kirov region, which pumps crude oil through the Surgut–Nizhny Novgorod–Polotsk main pipeline
- a fuel and lubricants depot (Matveyev Kurgan, Rostov region)
- a command and observation post of the enemy (Begocha, Kursk region)
- UAV command posts in the Kalynove area of Donetsk region and Hrafovka (Belgorod region)
- a Russian UAV repair workshop in Donetsk
- areas of enemy personnel concentration in Donetsk and Zhelanne in Donetsk region
In addition, based on preliminary assessments of previous strikes, the following damage has been confirmed:
- destruction on May 30, 2026, of three fuel storage tanks at the area of a maritime oil terminal (Feodosia, temporarily occupied Crimea)
- destruction on May 30, 2026, of a gas storage facility near Yenakiieve in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region
The facilities were used by the enemy to support the needs of the occupying Russian forces.
Strikes on the Saratov refinery
As a reminder, the Saratov refinery has long been a target of Ukrainian drone strikes.
In March, the plant burned for several days following another drone strike, while in February explosions and fires were reported simultaneously in both Engels and Saratov.
Earlier, media reports stated that nearly all major oil refineries in central Russia had fully halted or significantly reduced fuel production as a result of large-scale Ukrainian drone attacks.
