The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed a joint operation involving Unmanned Systems Forces, the Defense Intelligence, and other Defense Forces units in the Krasnodar Krai and occupied Crimea. On the night of February 26, Ukrainian forces targeted oil refineries and airfields, according to the General Staff.

Ukrainian army struck several key Russian targets. These included military airfields Saki and Kacha, and a drone attack on the Tuapse oil refinery.

The Tuapse refinery plays a crucial role in Russia's budget and military logistics:

  • It processes 12 million tons of oil annually.
  • Over 90% of its products are exported.
  • The refinery is heavily involved in supplying the Russian forces.

The General Staff reported at least 40 explosions near the refinery during the attack. There is information about infrastructure damage at the facility. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

Attack on Russia on February 26

On the night of February 26, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported a large-scale drone attack. The targets were temporarily occupied Crimea and Krasnodar Krai. Tuapse and Anapa came under attack in Russia.

Later, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, explained the significance of the targeted seaport and oil refinery to Russia's operations.

Sources also revealed that the nighttime attack on the refinery and seaport in Krasnodar Krai was an operation by Ukraine's intelligence, which resulted in a fire and damage to the refinery's equipment.
