On the night of February 26, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence, together with other units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, struck an oil refinery and a seaport in the city of Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai, Russia, RBC-Ukraine reports referring to its sources in intelligence.

As a result of the attack on the oil refinery, at least 40 explosions were heard, a fire broke out, and oil refining equipment was damaged.

Russian authorities have already acknowledged the attack on Tuapse, while witnesses are posting photos and videos of the damage online and claim the attack targeted the local seaport.

According to the sources, the complex of affected objects plays a significant role in ensuring the military logistics of the Russian army. At the same time, the oil terminal in Tuapse is one of the largest in Russia, and the port is one of the key cargo ports on the Black Sea. The latter is connected to the railway network, allowing the transportation of goods from central and southern regions of Russia.

Russian shelling on February 26

On February 26, Russia's Ministry of Defense complained about a massive drone attack. The targets of the strikes were the temporarily occupied Crimea and Krasnodar Krai. In particular, the Russian cities of Tuapse and Anapa were under attack.

Later, the Head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, explained the role of the attacked seaport and oil refinery in Russia.
