The Ukrainian military attacked one of Russia's largest oil refineries and an oil pumping station. Fires broke out at both facilities, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Strike on Lukoil in Nizhnyi Novgorod region

On May 18, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region.

A fire was reported at the facility. The extent of the damage is still being determined.

This plant is one of the largest in Russia. It processes about 17 million tons of oil annually.

"The plant produces gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel used to meet the needs of Russian forces," the statement says.

Yaroslavl-3 oil pumping station also attacked

On May 19, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Yaroslavl-3 oil pumping station near the village of Semibratovo in the Yaroslavl region.

The extent of damage is also being determined.

Ukraine's General Staff emphasizes that the Ukrainian Defense Forces will continue systematic strikes against Russia's military-economic potential until the armed aggression against Ukraine is completely halted.

Earlier, drones had already attacked one of the largest oil refineries in the Yaroslavl region, the Slavneft-YANOS plant, where a fire also broke out at the industrial facility.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently stated that the strikes on Russia are changing the perspective of Ukraine’s partners on the war.
