The Armed Forces of Ukraine have stopped the Russian spring-summer offensive operation and are forcing the enemy to retreat in several directions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

"The Kremlin's plans to capture important areas and settlements are not being fulfilled, and therefore are constantly being revised and postponed. We can state that Ukrainian soldiers have stopped the enemy's spring-summer offensive campaign," the General Staff noted.

It is reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to disrupt further Russian plans by taking asymmetric measures to neutralize the enemy's workforce and weaponry advantage.

Ukrainian counteroffensive operations

In specific directions, the Defense Forces are conducting counteroffensive operations. Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are also successfully conducting assault operations to restore lost positions. In particular, Ukrainian soldiers continue to drive Russian invaders out of the territory of the Sumy region.

Active fighting also continues in the Pokrovsk district of the Donetsk region. There are also some successes in restoring control over territory in the Zaporizhzhia region. There are other sections of the front where the enemy has made no gains.

Russian losses

"Even though the situation in the areas of hostilities remains difficult, the enemy does not fully possess strategic initiative. At the cost of huge losses, the enemy has made only minor advances in certain sections of the front," the General Staff added.

Thus, in September alone, the Russian forces' losses amounted to almost 29,000 service members, 70 tanks, 65 armored fighting vehicles, more than 1,050 artillery systems, six multiple launch rocket systems, and other equipment were destroyed or damaged. Since the beginning of the year, 2,060 Russian servicemen have been taken prisoner.

Strikes on Russian rear areas

It is noted that, most effectively during the entire war, deep strikes have been carried out on Russian territory as part of Deep Strike operations, military targets, logistics, and the energy sector of the aggressor country are being destroyed.

In particular, since the beginning of the year, successful strikes have been carried out on 45 facilities of Russia's fuel-energy and military-industrial complex.

As a result, total production volumes of petroleum products in Russia have decreased by almost 25%. Each day, due to reduced oil product exports, the aggressor country loses more than USD 46 million. Striking the enemy's rear resources significantly complicates its ability to conduct active combat operations.

New weapons from allies

According to the General Staff, there are also positive signals regarding the provision of new packages of military aid from allies.

In particular, the delivery of precision-guided weapons, such as Tomahawk cruise missiles and other modern systems, is under discussion. Their use will significantly strengthen pressure on Russia to end the war and establish a just peace.

Over the past day, from October 16 to 17, Russians lost another 730 servicemen on the front. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed five tanks and 35 artillery systems.
