Russian forces attacked positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the east 49 times over the past 24 hours. Ukrainian units maintain control over the northern part of Pokrovsk and are holding back the enemy on the approaches to Myrnohrad, according to the Facebook page of the Skhid military group.

Ukrainian Defense Forces units are holding back an active enemy offensive and, since the start of the current day, have repelled 49 hostile assaults.

The fiercest fighting continues in the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration, where Ukrainian defenders are conducting active defense and inflicting significant casualties on the enemy.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 16 times near the settlements of Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Kotlyne, Udachne, Filiia, as well as in the direction of Bilytske. One clash was still ongoing as of the evening.

At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine maintain control over the northern part of Pokrovsk.

In Myrnohrad, Ukrainian units are firmly holding defensive lines and destroying enemy forces approaching the city.

It is also noted that the logistical situation remains difficult; however, the command is taking measures to expand logistical corridors toward Myrnohrad to strengthen supply and support capabilities for the units.

Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad direction

This direction remains one of the key areas in eastern Ukraine due to the strategic importance of the settlements and logistics routes. Over the past weeks, Russian forces have intensified pressure in this area, attempting to break through Ukrainian defenses and complicate supply lines for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, the Skhid military group reported an increase in enemy assault actions and the active use of infantry supported by artillery.

At the same time, the Defense Forces continue to hold positions, inflicting losses on the enemy and preventing any advance into defensive lines.

The commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pivnenko, spoke about the situation in Pokrovsk. He emphasized that Ukrainian forces are amassing units for counter-assault operations; however, weather conditions significantly complicate combat activities.

Russian forces continue attempts to capture Pokrovsk but, having become bogged down in urban combat, have been forced to change their offensive tactics, according to the commander of the 7th Assault Rangers Corps of the Air Assault Forces, Yevhen Lasiichuk.

Soldiers of the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces also released rare footage from the frontlines, showing the conditions in which Ukrainian defenders daily hold back Russian advances.

Additionally, it was previously reported that on December 19, the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted a successful special operation near Pokrovsk, destroying a significant concentration of enemy armored vehicles. Among the enemy losses were an Osa SAM system, tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and other equipment.
