Ukrainian forces break through near Orikhiv, advancing 3 km in key southern offensive

Ukrainian forces have advanced three kilometers near Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region. The counteroffensive also continues in the Dobropillia direction, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy confirmed that counteroffensive actions are underway near Dobropillia. At the same time, the Armed Forces have begun regaining positions in other areas, including Zaporizhzhia.
"In the Zaporizhzhia direction, near Orikhiv, our troops have advanced more than three kilometers as of today. I thank the soldiers of the 24th Separate Assault Battalion Aidar, the 33rd Separate Assault Regiment, and other units that took part," the President said.
Dobropillia counteroffensive
In September, Ukrainian forces seized the initiative from Russian troops in the Dobropillia direction, launching a counteroffensive that inflicted heavy losses on the Russians. On October 9, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said more than 180 square kilometers of territory had been liberated.
On September 23, during a meeting in New York, Zelenskyy told US President Donald Trump that the Defense Forces had managed to encircle about 1,000 Russian soldiers near Dobropillia.
On October 10, Zelenskyy said Russian troops attempted an assault in the Dobropillia direction to break through and free their encircled forces. They suffered losses and retreated.
