Ukrainian troops advanced 10–12 km deep in two separate offensives in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In total, more than 400 square kilometers of territory have been liberated there since the end of January 2026, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Commander of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment Dmytro Filatov, who is fighting in the Huliaipole direction, said on March 10 that the regiment had advanced 12 kilometers deep into Russian positions between Nove Zaporizhzhia and Dobropillia (both north of Huliaipole and south of Oleksandrivka).

The commander of a Ukrainian airborne battalion said on March 10 that the battalion had advanced 10–11 kilometers toward Oleksandrivka.

Southern Defense Forces spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn said Ukrainian forces had regained the initiative in some areas near the border of the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

He also said that Russian troops have not advanced toward Huliaipole for the past three months (since mid-December 2025) and have now shifted their focus to attacks toward Zaliznychne (west of Huliaipole), Myrne, and Charivne (both southwest of Huliaipole).

Head of the Main Operations Directorate of the Ukrainian General Staff, Major General Oleksandr Komarenko, said Ukrainian troops had liberated more than 400 square kilometers in the Oleksandrivka direction.

ISW estimates that since January 1, Ukrainian troops have liberated about 279 square kilometers in the Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole directions, but the analysts’ conservative mapping methodology underestimates Ukrainian advances.

Komarenko also said that Ukrainian troops had liberated almost the entire Dnipropetrovsk region, but had not captured three small settlements and had not cleared two others — likely referring to five settlements located both in the Dnipropetrovsk region and in the Oleksandrivka direction.

Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces previously reported that as of March 2, Ukrainian forces had liberated nine settlements in the Oleksandrivka direction.

ISW estimates that Ukrainian forces recently liberated Novohryhorivka, Kalynivske, and Stepove (all southeast of Oleksandrivka).

Geolocated footage published on March 10 shows Ukrainian armored vehicles operating in the center of Novohryhorivka, indicating that Ukrainian forces recently advanced in the area and likely also liberated Kalynivske and Stepove (both north of Novohryhorivka).

A Ukrainian source said Ukrainian forces had liberated Kalynivske and Stepove.

ISW is also revising its previous assessment that geolocated videos published on March 7, showing Ukrainian forces striking a Russian position in southern Ternove (southeast of Oleksandrivka), were filmed after a Russian infiltration operation into the settlement.

ISW now assesses that the March 7 footage was likely filmed before, not after, Ukrainian forces liberated Ternove on March 6, indicating that Russian forces do not hold positions in the settlement.

A Ukrainian regiment operating in the Oleksandrivka direction reported on March 10 that Ukrainian forces had liberated Ternove.

Analysts believe that the five settlements in the Oleksandrivka direction and the Dnipropetrovsk region, where Russian troops still hold positions, and which Komarenko likely referred to, are Novomykolaivka, Zaporizke, Novoheorhiivka, Sichneve, and Maliivka (all southeast of Oleksandrivka).

Ukrainian military observer Oleksandr Kovalenko estimated on March 10 that Russian troops hold positions in Novomykolaivka, Sichneve, Maliivka, Ternove, Berezove (west of Ternove), and in some parts of Vorone (north of Ternove).

But Kovalenko noted that Ukrainian forces may have already liberated and cleared some of these settlements.

The status of three settlements in the eastern part of Synelnykove district of the Dnipropetrovsk region (specifically outside the Oleksandrivka direction), where fighting recently took place — Novopidhorodne, Novopavlivka, and Ivanivka — remains unclear.

Ukrainian Armed Forces' successes on the front

Head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff Major General Oleksandr Komarenko said Ukrainian troops are conducting a planned offensive operation in the Oleksandrivka direction.

As part of these actions, they have already managed to liberate almost the entire territory of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Earlier, Russian military bloggers reported a Ukrainian counteroffensive at the junction of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, spreading panic messages in their channels. The Southern Defense Forces later clarified the real situation on the front.

The Air Assault Forces of Ukraine are conducting an active operation in the Oleksandrivka direction. Its main goal is to disrupt Russia’s plans to advance in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The key successes of this operation were later revealed by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
