"The situation in this area (in the Southern Operational Zone – ed.) is difficult. The enemy continues to exert pressure, actively using small assault groups for infiltration, artillery, unmanned aerial vehicles, and in some places armored vehicles," Syrskyi says.

According to him, despite this, Ukrainian soldiers are not only holding their defenses but also successfully conducting offensive operations.

Since the end of January this year, in the Oleksandrivka direction, Ukraine's Air Assault Forces and adjacent units have regained control of 400 square kilometers of territory and eight settlements.

"I had the honor of personally commending the servicemen of the 82nd and 95th Air Assault Brigades for their courage, endurance, and professionalism in battle," adds the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Armed Forces of Ukraine's offensive

In mid-February, Russian military correspondents reported an alleged Ukrainian Armed Forces' counteroffensive at the junction of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. The Southern Defense Forces explained the real situation on the front line.

Later, on February 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian defenders had liberated about 300 square kilometers of territory in the southern sector of the front from Russian troops.

Also yesterday, February 22, it was reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Airborne Assault Troops were conducting an active operation in the Oleksandrivka direction. The main goal is to thwart Russia's plans to advance in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
