A critical energy infrastructure facility in Stryi district was also damaged by a missile. A gas storage facility came under attack.

Power outages possible in Ukraine

Ukrenergo notes that this is the fifth massive Russian drone strike on energy facilities since March 22. As a result of today's attack, according to the operator, thermal and hydroelectric power plants were damaged. The Shaheds also damaged equipment at one of Ukrenergo's facilities in the central region. Currently, consumers in this region are supplied by backup schemes.

However, Ukrainians are warned that tonight from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. there may be restrictions on electricity supply to household and industrial consumers throughout Ukraine. The restrictions will be evenly distributed across all regions. The reason is a shortage of electricity in the power grid. It is caused by new damage to the equipment of Ukrainian power plants caused by Russian strikes.

The exact outage schedules in each region will be published on the official websites of local power distribution companies. As the situation is expected to be particularly difficult today from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Ukrainians are urged to use electricity sparingly during this time.

Previous massive Russian attack

Earlier, Russia massively attacked Ukraine on the night of April 26-27. Then, as in recent times, the energy sector was also targeted. Enemy missiles were aimed at Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions. That night, Russia struck four thermal power plants, severely damaging equipment.
