Special Operations Forces drones struck two Russian oil depots in temporarily occupied Crimea on the night of October 16–17, according to the press service of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.

It is noted that on the night of October 17, Ukrainian strike drones attacked several Russian-occupied sites on the peninsula. The drone attack hit an oil depot in the settlement of Hvardiiske.

The so-called federal state treasury institution of the Gvardeyskoye combine in the village of Karierne, Saky district, in temporarily occupied Crimea, was also struck.

"The Special Operations Forces continue to carry out asymmetric actions to stop the enemy," the statement said.

Earlier on the morning of October 17, Ukrainian monitoring channels reported two powerful explosions in temporarily occupied Simferopol and the surrounding district. In Hvardiiske, an oil depot reportedly caught fire.

It was also reported that Russian air defenses shot down their own Su-30SM fighter jet during attempts to repel the drone attack on the night of October 17. The plane crashed, and the crew reportedly survived, according to Russian propagandists.
