For the first time in many years, there will be no military equipment at the May 9 parade in Moscow, demonstrating that Russia is no longer as strong as it once was. Moreover, Ukrainian drones can fly over it, says President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the opening of the 8th summit of the European Political Community in Yerevan.
According to him, this summer will be the moment when Russian president Vladimir Putin will decide what to do next — to expand this war or move to diplomatic paths. Zelenskyy emphasized that the Kremlin's leader must be pushed toward diplomacy.
“Russia has announced a May 9 parade in Moscow without military equipment. If that happens, it will be the first time in many, many years. They cannot afford military equipment – and they fear drones may buzz over Red Square,” the president said.
It shows that the Russians are no longer as strong as before, Zelenskyy adds, so pressure on them with sanctions must continue.
Drone attacks on Moscow
Drones struck Moscow overnight, five days before the next parade. Drone debris fell in the capital of Russia right in the middle of a street, and local authorities reported damage to a building of an elite residential complex on Mosfilmovskaya Street.
On the night of Sunday, April 3, Moscow was also attacked by unidentified drones. According to local authorities, two drones were shot down. Temporary restrictions were then introduced on arrivals and departures at two airports — Moscow’s Vnukovo and Yaroslavl’s Tunoshna.
Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported throughout the evening on the work of air defense over drones flying toward the Russian capital.
