The Ukrainian negotiation team was invited to visit the US after the US special envoy Steve Witkoff met with the Russian President Vladimir Putin, states Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, according to UNIAN.

After the meeting of NATO foreign ministers, Sybiha said that the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, had already called Witkoff following his meeting with Putin. For security reasons, the details of the meeting in Moscow were not discussed.

At the same time, according to the minister, Umerov continues consultations on peace negotiations with officials from France, the UK, and Germany. They are coordinating positions and assessing the progress made.

"The US delegation representatives reported that, in their assessment, the talks in Moscow had a positive significance for the peace process. They invited the Ukrainian delegation to the US in the near future to continue our discussions," the Foreign Minister said.

Witkoff and Putin meeting

Yesterday, December 2, US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and the US leader’s son-in-law Jared Kushner met in Moscow with the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov stated that no compromises were reached during the meeting.

However, he added that Washington and Moscow see "huge prospects" for cooperation.

Yesterday, there were also rumors that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy might meet with members of the US delegation after they left Moscow. But today it became known that such a meeting was canceled.
