The meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the US delegation, consisting of US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, which was supposed to take place in Brussels, has been canceled, journalist Alex Raufoglu reported.

"The Brussels meeting is called off, according to sources. Zelenskyy is returning home," Raufoglu wrote.

Earlier, the assistant to the Russian president, Yuri Ushakov, stated that the American representatives had promised to return to Washington immediately after the talks in Moscow.

The plane on which Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Russia is returning to the United States without intermediate stops in Europe.

What came before

On December 2, talks were held at the Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the US President's special envoy, Steve Witkoff. The meeting lasted more than four hours, during which the participants discussed the US peace plan for Ukraine.

According to Putin's adviser, Yuri Ushakov, the discussion focused on the essence of US President Donald Trump's plan rather than on specific proposals.

He said that no compromises had been reached yet, and a meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States is not planned at this stage.

When asked how the prospects for peace had changed after the talks, Ushakov shrugged and said, "They certainly haven't receded." He also added that there is no compromise version of the plan for Ukraine yet, and some American proposals do not suit Russia.

At the same time, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that now is the ideal time for Russia and Ukraine to end the war. He also added that the United States is the only country in the world that can bridge the gap between both sides, and it is working on this.
