Negotiations in Saudi Arabia

Negotiations between the Ukrainian and US delegations will take place on March 11 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Ukraine will be represented by the Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, his deputy Pavlo Palisa, Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha, and Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov. On the US side, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff are expected to attend.

According to media reports, Kyiv is expected to propose an air and maritime truce with Russia during the negotiations.

Before the talks, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he saw potential in Ukraine’s proposal for a partial ceasefire to end the war.

Rubio expressed hope that the issue of Washington’s suspension of military aid to Ukraine could be resolved during the negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

Rubio also stated that as part of a peace agreement, Ukraine would have to cede the territories captured by Russia.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Saudi Arabia on March 10 for a visit but will not take part in the negotiations.
