Ukrainian army repelled 27 Russian attacks in Pokrovsk direction, with 3 more still ongoing - General Staff
As of 10:00 PM on August 2, there were 102 combat engagements on the frontlines throughout the day. The situation remains most intense in the Pokrovsk direction, where Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 27 enemy attacks, with three more battles still ongoing, reports the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Enemy shelling
Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has launched one missile strike using three rockets, carried out 54 airstrikes (including dropping 52 guided bombs), conducted 544 kamikaze drone attacks, and nearly 3,300 shellings of Ukrainian positions and settlements using various types of weaponry.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, throughout the day, the Russian army, supported by aviation, launched six attacks near Hlyboke, Tykhe, and Vovchansk. Defense units successfully repelled four enemy assaults, with two more engagements ongoing.
"According to preliminary information, since the beginning of the day, enemy losses include 82 casualties - dead and wounded - as well as the destruction of one artillery system, a tank, ten drones, five vehicles, and three pieces of specialized equipment. Additionally, seven artillery systems and one vehicle belonging to the enemy have been damaged," the report states.
In the Kupiansk direction, defense forces repelled two enemy attacks near Stelmakhivka.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy attempted to advance towards the settlements of Makiivka, Terni, and Torske with ten attacks, all of which were repelled.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine enemy assaults throughout the day in Ivano-Daryivka, Spirne, Verkhnokamianske, Pereizne, and Vyimka. Combat continues in two locations.
In the Kramatorsk direction, there were nine engagements. The enemy was active around Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka, with six attempts to push Ukrainian forces from their positions proving unsuccessful. Three attacks are still ongoing, and the situation is under control.
With aviation support, the enemy made 15 attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses in the Toretsk direction. Throughout the day, the Russian army received strong resistance from Ukrainian Defense Forces in Pivnichne, Toretsk, New York, and Zalizne, with 12 attempts repelled. Three attacks are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, 27 enemy offensive and assault actions have been repelled in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvizhivka, Kalynove, Ivanivka, Zhelanne, and Novoselivka Persha. Three more engagements are currently ongoing. Ukrainian forces are taking measures to hold the designated positions.
"Overall enemy losses are still being confirmed, but more than two hundred soldiers are already reported as either killed or wounded. Ukrainian forces have also destroyed two artillery systems, four armored personnel carriers, five drones, two vehicles, and three pieces of specialized equipment. Additionally, two vehicles, two enemy guns, and a BM-21 multiple rocket launcher have been damaged," the General Staff reported.
In the Kurakhove direction, there have been three combat engagements to date. The invaders remain active, attempting to advance in the areas of Krasnohorivka and Kostyantynivka. Defense units have repelled all enemy attacks without success for Russia.
In the Vremivka direction, there were five engagements towards Vodyane and Velika Novosilka, with all enemy assaults being repelled.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian forces are currently repelling an attack by Russia towards Novoandriivka.
In the Prydniprovsk direction, Ukrainian units have repelled six enemy attacks, with the occupiers achieving no success.
"Today, we honor the soldiers of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General-Commander Marko Bezruchko, who is steadfastly holding the line and inflicting significant losses on the enemy," the General Staff added.
According to the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, the minimal objective for Russia is to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
He also stated that the presence of Russian troops in Kharkiv region is only a matter of time. According to him, the enemy attempted to create a buffer zone, but their plans failed.
