Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in Kursk region
The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an operation in the Kursk region on August 6. As of the end of August 1300 square kilometers and 100 settlements were taken under control. In addition, about 600 Russian soldiers were captured.
According to the documents seized by Ukrainian special forces at the positions, the Russian military command anticipated the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region and had been developing plans to prevent it for several months. But it failed to prepare.
Russia launched a counteroffensive in the Kursk region only on September 11 and claimed to have recaptured about 63 square kilometers from Ukrainian troops on the left flank of the territory occupied by Kyiv.
After that, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the group from the south and captured the village of Vesele. This was the first breakthrough of the Russian border in the Kursk region since the start of the operation in August.
In addition, on September 23, the command of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces released a video of another breakthrough on the Russian border in the Kursk region.
