Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down an enemy Su-25 aircraft in the Pokrovsk direction on Wednesday, May 22, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, the enemy has currently concentrated its efforts in the Kharkiv region, as well as in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions. The Defense Forces are aware of the enemy's plans and are doing everything to thwart them.

Today, Ukrainian forces inflicted fire damage on:

  • four areas of personnel concentration;
  • two command posts;
  • two UAV control stations;
  • One electronic warfare system;
  • two guns and an S-400 air defense system.

The results of these strikes are being clarified.

Additionally, it has been confirmed that an enemy Su-25 aircraft was destroyed in the Pokrovsk direction.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, 8 enemy attacks have been repelled in the areas of the villages of Liptsi and Starytsia. Fighting continues in the direction of Pletenivka – Vovchansk. The situation is under control by the Defense Forces, and our defenders are putting up a worthy resistance.

As of now, since the beginning of this day in the Kharkiv direction, the enemy has lost 87 servicemen and 21 units of military equipment, including two artillery systems that have been destroyed.

In the Kupiansk direction, the Defense Forces have repelled 22 enemy attacks. Four more combat clashes are ongoing in the areas of Berestove and Makiivka. The situation is under control.

In the Lyman direction, six attacks by the Russian army were repelled today. The enemy had no success.

In the Siversk direction, two enemy attacks are ongoing in the area of Vyimka. The situation is under control. During the current day, there were eight more attempts by the enemy to advance in the directions of Bilohorivka and Verkhniokamianske, but they were unsuccessful.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the number of clashes increased to 10. The defense forces held their positions. Today, the Russian army lost 58 personnel killed and wounded in this direction, a T-90 tank was destroyed, as well as two BMDs and four BMP-3 vehicles. Two more such infantry armored vehicles were damaged.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the number of attacks has increased to 25. In particular, the enemy, with assault groups and equipment, is attempting to infiltrate our combat formations. The situation remains tense, with nine ongoing clashes.

In the Kurakhove direction, combat operations continue in the area of Heorhiivka. Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has attacked our units 18 times in the areas of Novomykhailivka, Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka, and Paraskoviivka.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Russian forces have been attempting to advance along the entire front line since the beginning of May. However, the main focus remains in the Kharkiv direction. In particular, the Russian army has managed to reach the outskirts of the town of Vovchansk, where sporadic street fighting is ongoing.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, currently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding back the enemy's advance. The military's maximum attention is focused on the border with Russia.
