Ukraine is expecting a visit from Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who is scheduled to meet with Andrii Sybiha, the acting head of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Heorhii Tykhyi, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

"Of course, we understand that Minister Fidan is coming after his visit to Russia. We are confident that he will have a lot to tell, a lot to inform us. And again, we will discuss peace effort, Turkey's role in this peace effort, and our excellent bilateral cooperation," said Heorhii Tykhyi, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

According to him, a broader range of regional issues will also be raised during Fidan's visit.

The "ministers will probably also focus on the situation in Syria," the spokesperson said.

Fidan's visit to Ukraine

Yesterday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that their minister, Hakan Fidan, will visit Ukraine on May 29-30. Earlier, media reports indicated that the visit would last two days, but the agenda has not been disclosed.

Prior to this, on May 26-27, Fidan visited Russia, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Vladimir Medinsky, head of the Russian delegation for talks with Ukraine.

Media reports stated that Fidan would confirm Türkiye's readiness to act as a mediator in a new round of negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow.

Yesterday, it was also revealed that the Russian Federation proposed holding a second round of ceasefire talks with Ukraine on Monday, June 2, in Istanbul.
