The conditions under which the war in Ukraine ends will affect the security of Europe and the United States. Any scenario requires further support from Kyiv, stated German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during the Munich Conference.

Steinmeier emphasized that collective strength is crucial for Ukraine at this moment. He noted that US President Donald Trump had spoken by phone with both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy and expressed confidence that possible ways to end the war would be a key topic of discussion at the Munich conference, both in the main hall and on the sidelines.

Steinmeier pointed out that everyone wants the war to end but stressed that the way it concludes will have long-term consequences for the security order and the position of Europe and the United States. He said that simply reaching an agreement and stepping away would weaken Ukraine, Europe, and the US, emphasizing that any scenario - before or after the end of hostilities - requires collective strength and deterrence.

According to him, for this reason, Ukraine must continue to receive support under any scenario.

Earlier today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that while Ukraine still requires security guarantees from the United States, the country is open to the presence of European peacekeepers.

According to media reports, the deployment of European peacekeepers in Ukraine is expected to be a key topic of discussion at the Munich Conference.
