The Ukrainian army is actively using "Long Neptune" missiles and deploying ballistic missiles every month, states Ukraine's Minister for Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin.

"We use it actively every month, just like ballistic missiles. Ballistic missiles are used every month, and 'Long Neptune' is also used regularly," said Smetanin.

Additionally, Ukraine's presidential advisor on strategic issues, Oleksandr Kamyshin, commented on the ballistic capabilities of the Ukrainian manufacturer.

"We will not answer you more than what the president has already said: 'We have our own ballistic missile, which is being produced in series and has been successfully used,'" said Kamyshin.

Smetanin added, "You may have seen them in the news."

What is known about Ukrainian-made missiles

On October 1, 2024, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at the opening of the second International Forum on Defense Industries, announced that Ukraine had developed a new ballistic missile. He mentioned that it had already undergone successful flight tests.

"Our new ballistic missile has successfully passed flight tests. The Neptune missiles are being successfully used, and up to 20 Bohdana artillery systems are produced each month," Zelenskyy stated at the time.

By the end of the same month, Member of Parliament and head of the Ukrainian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Yehor Chernev, also reported that some Ukrainian-made missiles had already been tested. However, there were issues with the components required for them.

Later, on November 1, Oleksiy Petrov, director of the state enterprise Spetstechnoexport, stated that by 2025, Ukraine would have its own missiles. He specified that these would include both cruise and ballistic missiles.
