By 2025, Ukraine will have its own missiles, including both cruise and ballistic types, informs Oleksiy Petrov, director of the state enterprise Spetstechnoexport.

"The state, as well as the private sector, is moving forward in this direction. Lifting the monopoly on the missile industry was a smart decision. So, I believe we’ll have our own missiles — both cruise and ballistic — by mid-2025," Petrov stated.

According to Petrov, he has already seen flight tests of domestically produced missiles and confirmed that “the results are there.”

Production of ammunition in Ukraine

The director of Spetstechnoexport also noted the progress in Ukraine’s development of its own, including private, production of ammunition. This includes both Soviet-standard munitions and NATO-caliber shells (155-mm).

“Ukrainian state companies are working to resume or expand production of Soviet-standard ammunition, which, unfortunately, we can’t phase out just yet. A 152-mm shell that reaches 30 km is critically needed, as are 122-mm rounds. They remain in constant deficit, given the high demand from our Defense Forces,” Petrov added.

Missile production in Ukraine

In August 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine had, for the first time, deployed a new missile-drone called Palianytsia, a domestically produced weapon.

At the end of October, Yehor Cherniev, head of the Ukrainian delegation to NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly, mentioned during a telethon that some missiles produced in Ukraine had completed trials. However, there are still challenges with sourcing essential components.
