Ukraine uses amphibious robot to deliver supplies across land and water

Ukrainian troops carried out their first logistics mission using an amphibious ground robot, which traveled more than 40 kilometers over land and water to deliver supplies to their positions, according to Ukraine's Ministry of Defense.
Troops from a separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out one of the first such missions. They used a Ukrainian-developed amphibious ground robot.
During the mission, the robot traveled more than 40 kilometers across land and water. It delivered food and ammunition to the troops' positions.
How the amphibious robot differs from a conventional ground robot
Water obstacles remain a challenge for military logistics. Rivers, canals, and marshy areas can make it difficult for a conventional ground robot to travel or make its route impossible altogether.
An amphibious ground robot can complete such a route without switching vehicles. It moves like a conventional ground robot on land and can enter the water when needed to continue its journey.
This allows one robot to operate across different terrain and overcome obstacles that would pose a problem for a conventional ground robot.
How the robot was prepared for the mission
The amphibious ground robot was refined for several months with military personnel before its first logistics mission.
The developers took into account the troops' needs, experience using robotic systems, and the terrain at the front.
The Brave1 defense innovation cluster provided grant support for the robot. This helped bring the development into practical use.
Ukraine's Ministry of Defense and Brave1 continue to support the development of amphibious ground robots. In June 2026, Brave1 introduced a dedicated "amphibious ground robots" category in its updated grant program.
"We are expanding the capabilities of robotic systems so that Ukrainian troops have more technological tools to carry out combat missions," the Ministry of Defense said.
Use of ground robots at the front
Ground robots are becoming increasingly common at the front. Ukrainian troops use them to strike Russian positions, logistics targets and other objectives.
During Operation Vivaldi, the Third Army Corps used ground robots in an assault on Russian positions for the first time.
The NC13 ground robot strike unit upgraded kamikaze robots and equipped them with grenade launchers to strike Russian targets.
The Third Army Corps also tested deploying ground robots from heavy Griffon bomber drones and began using the robots to strike positions and logistics targets up to 15 kilometers from the front line.
