Earlier, NSDC Secretary and head of the Ukrainian delegation Rustem Umerov said that there would be trilateral consultations, group work, and further synchronization of positions.
Negotiations in Abu Dhabi
On Wednesday, February 4, another round of trilateral negotiations between the US, Ukraine, and Russia began in Abu Dhabi. The discussions lasted about five hours.
According to Rustem Umerov, after the main meeting, the work continued in separate groups.
Previous negotiations in the UAE took place on January 23-24. Ukraine, Russia, and the US held their first trilateral meeting, but the parties did not publicly disclose the results of the agreements.
Sources of RBC-Ukraine said that progress had been made in the military bloc. The talks focused on the possible withdrawal of forces, mechanisms for monitoring the ceasefire, and the creation of a coordination center.
However, the key territorial issue has not yet been resolved. Russia insists on the withdrawal of troops from Donbas, but Kyiv is not backing down.
During a recent talk with journalists, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the territorial issue, primarily on Donbas, is key.
According to analysts at the Institute for the Study of War, Russia's territorial and political demands are much broader than the Kremlin's statements about Donbas, which are publicly voiced for Western audiences.
