The territorial issue, primarily regarding Donbas, is key. The delegations of Ukraine, Russia, and the United States will discuss this during today’s talks in Abu Dhabi, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told journalists.

“The issue of Donbas is key. It will be discussed — how the three sides see it — in Abu Dhabi today and tomorrow,” Zelenskyy said.

The president noted that Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov will provide him with relevant signals at every stage.

Talks in Abu Dhabi

Today, January 23, the first trilateral meeting of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia will take place in Abu Dhabi.

Also, on Thursday, January 22, a meeting was held in the Kremlin between the US President’s special envoys Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Russian president Vladimir Putin, with the participation of Yuri Ushakov and Kirill Dmitriev. It lasted 3.5 hours.

Following this meeting, Russia confirmed the holding of the first session of a trilateral working group on security issues involving representatives of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine.

As previously reported in the media, the issue of territories will become the key topic of the negotiations within the trilateral meeting of Ukraine, the United States, and Russia in Abu Dhabi.

US special envoy Steve Witkoff, together with delegation member Jared Kushner, has already departed for Abu Dhabi to take part in the talks. According to a Ukrainian official, US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will also join them.

The Ukrainian side at the meeting will be represented by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov, his deputy Sergiy Kyslytsya, and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov.

Russia at the talks will be represented by Kirill Dmitriev, as well as a delegation headed by GRU chief Igor Kostyukov.
