Ukraine's Defense Ministry has approved the Zmiy Mini Strike, a reconnaissance and strike unmanned ground vehicle equipped with a grenade launcher, for use by the Armed Forces, the ministry's press service said.
It is noted that the new development by a Ukrainian manufacturer was created jointly with engineers from one of the most effective combat brigades of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. It was developed based on more than four years of wartime experience and an analysis of the combat use of unmanned ground vehicles on the battlefield.
The engineers implemented a number of design solutions that enable the platform to demonstrate high mission effectiveness.
Features of the unmanned ground vehicle
The Zmiy Mini Strike fits into the cargo area of a minibus, a car trailer, or the bed of a pickup truck. Transporting the platform does not require any additional equipment.
The platform is equipped with a combat module featuring an MK19 grenade launcher, which is distinguished by the high kinetic energy of its ammunition, the versatility of its munitions, and the ability to deliver accurate fire from concealed positions. At the same time, the unmanned ground vehicle can be fitted with any other combat module equipped with infantry weapons.
Earlier, the Ukrainian military demonstrated the Barracuda system in action for the first time, operating alongside other unmanned systems to attack Russian positions.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the coordination of several types of unmanned systems makes it possible to detect and strike enemy forces more effectively.
The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) also recently reported that Ukraine is developing a new system for drones that will make it possible both to destroy enemy targets and to detain sanctioned vessels in the Black Sea before escorting them to port for confiscation.
