Ukraine to sign security agreements with US and Japan: Presidential office announces timeline
Ukraine will soon sign bilateral security agreements with Japan and the United States, according to the press secretary of the President of Ukraine Serhii Nykyforov.
Nykyforov announced that Ukraine would sign agreements at one of the upcoming meetings. However, he did not specify whether it would be the NATO Summit or the G7 Meeting.
"We expect to sign bilateral security agreements with powerful allies such as the US and Japan at these meetings," he said.
Meanwhile, the press secretary of the President of Ukraine emphasized that he was not authorized to disclose specific details but noted that it would happen very soon.
Security agreements
This year, Ukraine initiated a new form of cooperation with partner countries, namely bilateral security agreements. Each agreement is unique and tailored to the requests of Ukraine and the partner country.
The United Kingdom was the first among the countries to sign such an agreement with Ukraine.
On January 12, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited Kyiv on a working visit, during which he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and they signed a historic agreement between Great Britain and Ukraine.
Canada, Germany, France, Denmark, Italy, Finland, the Netherlands, and Latvia have also signed similar agreements with Ukraine.
Recently, the President announced that currently all attention was focused on preparing a security agreement with the United States.
