Ukraine will resume oil shipments via the Druzhba pipeline as early as Wednesday. This could unlock a €90 billion EU loan for Kyiv, according to Reuters.

The Ukrainian company Ukrtransnafta has officially announced the completion of repairs to the oil pipeline.

"JSC Ukrtransnafta, the company responsible for operating the Ukrainian section of the Druzhba pipeline, has officially informed MOL that repair works on the Druzhba Pipeline ‌have been completed and that the force majeure conditions in effect since 27 January 2026 ceased as of 6 p.m. on 21 April 2026," the MOL statement reads.

Oil transit to Hungary and Slovakia is set to resume as early as Wednesday, according to Reuters sources.

Druzhba oil pipeline suspension

In January, a Russian drone damaged the pipeline in western Ukraine. Following this, oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia were halted.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who was ousted in the April 12 elections, and the Slovak government accused Ukraine of delaying repairs. Kyiv denied this.

In response, Hungary blocked the allocation of aid to Ukraine.

The resumption of oil supplies paves the way for the release of a €90 billion EU loan to Ukraine, which covers two-thirds of the country’s financial needs for 2026–2027.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already called on the EU to release the funds.
