Ukraine to receive three Caesar self-propelled howitzers from Belgium
Belgium is preparing to deliver three Caesar self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. A total of three units will be provided, according to RTBF.
"A dossier on the purchase and transfer of three Caesar self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine, with a total value of 12 million euros, will be presented to the Council of Ministers soon," the report states.
Earlier this year, France formed an "artillery coalition" alongside the United States to support Ukrainian forces. The coalition includes 25 countries, including Belgium, with the goal of providing Ukraine with 72 additional Caesar self-propelled howitzers in 2024. France, in particular, committed to delivering 12 of these systems.

The Caesar howitzer has an effective range of up to 42 kilometers and can use all types of 155mm NATO shells, including cluster munitions. Its firing rate is six rounds per minute.
In February 2023, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense announced that Copenhagen had transferred all Caesar howitzers in its arsenal to Ukraine.
In March 2024, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu stated that Paris would also deliver 78 Caesar howitzers to Ukraine and plans to increase the supply of ammunition.
