Ukraine to achieve maximum defense production this year, Zelenskyy says
Ukraine aims to achieve maximum Ukrainian defense production in 2024 throughout its entire period of independence, states President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the president, during the Staff meeting, he listened to the military's report on the main directions of action on the front. An analysis of the dynamics regarding ammunition was also conducted. In particular, logistics in the army has become noticeably more efficient.
"There were reports from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Strategic Industries regarding contracts for the supply of weapons and ammunition both from partner countries and from our own production. This year, we aim to achieve and will achieve maximum Ukrainian defense production in our entire history of independence. And every year, we will consistently add to this potential - it is Ukraine's obvious strategic perspective," Zelenskyy says.
Ukrainian-made drones
The Ukrainian army already has dozens of domestically produced drones in its arsenal. This includes not only unmanned aerial vehicles but also surface drones.
Earlier, the Minister for Strategic Industries, Oleksandr Kamyshin, announced that Ukraine had established serial production of a domestic analog of Shahed drones.
According to him, over the past year, Ukraine's defense industry has grown sixfold.
The Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, stated that Ukraine had already caught up with Russia in the number of long-range kamikaze drones. He also noted that soon there would be technologies that would allow military personnel to control drones while being far from the front lines.
