Ukraine thrashes Angola in futsal World Cup 2024

Both teams entered the match after losses in their World Cup 2024 opener. Angola lost to Afghanistan (4:6), while the Ukrainian team lost to Argentina (1:7). Consequently, a loss in this match could have meant elimination from the tournament.

The Ukrainian team scored their first goal quite quickly. In the 7th minute, Zhuk earned a penalty kick and converted it himself. Ukraine then took control, creating chances, but the ball stubbornly refused to go into the net. Additionally, Angola's goalkeeper, Gomito, played well.

Ukraine only broke through towards the end of the first half when Korsun scored twice against the African team. However, they were unable to keep the goal. Angola had the last word in the half – 3:1 at halftime.

The second half began with Angola attacking, creating several dangerous situations near Sukhov’s goal. But Zhuk and Melnyk managed to quell their opponents' momentum. Zhuk earned a promising free kick, which Melnyk executed perfectly. Almost immediately, Zvarych scored the fifth goal for Ukraine.

Towards the end of the match, Cherniavskyi and Shved made the scoreline even more lopsided. Vedu’s goal only slightly softened the sting of defeat for the Angolan team. Angola remains with zero points after two rounds.

In contrast, the Ukrainian team earned their first 3 points. In the final round, Oleksandr Kosenko’s team will face Afghanistan (September 21). On Wednesday evening, Ukraine’s future opponent will play against Argentina.

It’s worth noting that at the start of the World Cup 2024, Ukraine suffered a heavy defeat against Argentina.
