Ukraine is discussing security guarantees on land, in the air, and at sea with its partners. There is no talk of deploying a nuclear umbrella over Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tells reporters.
Zelenskyy notes that during the discussion of security guarantees for Ukraine, there was no talk of deploying a nuclear shield from the United Kingdom and France. Instead, guarantees from partners and the US on land, at sea, and in the air were discussed.
"A separate track is air defense, as well as strengthening our army, and additional funding for personnel. The staffing of our brigades is very important to us. And we are talking about some licenses that we need for co-production," the President says, explaining what exactly was discussed.
On January 6, a meeting between Ukraine, the US, and the Coalition of the Willing countries took place in Paris. The parties confirmed their unity on a lasting peace and agreed on further support for Kyiv.
During the meeting, Ukraine, France, and the UK also signed a declaration on the creation of a joint coordination group. This is the first step towards deploying Western troops in Ukraine after the end of the war.
At the leadership level, it is planned to finalize security documents later. The main priorities are security guarantees and post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. Only after that will broader consultations with the participation of the US take place.
