Some members of US President Donald Trump’s administration are likely not ready to abandon discussions with Ukraine despite an unpleasant dispute with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Bloomberg reports.

According to the publication, a European official familiar with the negotiations stated that U.S. President Donald Trump appears to hold a less rigid stance than some members of his administration.

At the same time, the source noted that some aides insisted on Zelenskyy’s resignation as part of any agreement.

Trump and Zelenskyy clash

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the White House on February 28, where he met with US President Donald Trump. However, during their conversation, a heated exchange erupted between Zelenskyy, Trump, and US Vice President JD Vance over the war and Ukraine’s alleged "lack of gratitude."

Later, it became known that Zelenskyy left the White House early. Trump accused the Ukrainian president of not being ready for peace.

Subsequently, Western media reported that Trump’s administration was considering suspending aid to Ukraine.

Additionally, Zelenskyy stated that he believes his relationship with Trump can still be salvaged following their tense meeting at the White House. The Ukrainian leader emphasized that further negotiations should take place behind closed doors.
