Ukraine's Defense Forces struck the Tolyattikauchuk plant, Proton-Elektroteks JSC in the Russian city of Oryol, and an aircraft at Yeysk airfield overnight on October 24, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
According to the General Staff, a strike on the main production building of Proton-Elektroteks JSC in Oryol, Oryol region, Russia, has been confirmed.
The damage is expected to complicate the production of components for cruise and ballistic missiles used by Russian forces to attack Ukrainian cities.
Proton-Elektroteks JSC is a leading Russian manufacturer of optoelectronic equipment and devices, with a full production cycle ranging from crystals to finished products.
Its products include modules for the S-71 Kover air-launched cruise missile and switching inverters for the 9M723 Iskander-M ballistic missile. The company also participates in the production of Pantsir-S1 air defense missile-gun systems and their modifications as part of Russia's defense industry supply chain.
The Tolyattikauchuk plant in Tolyatti, Samara region, Russia, was also hit.
An explosion and fire were reported near the facility.
Strikes on such targets disrupt the supply chain for raw materials used in Russia's missile program.
The plant produces synthetic rubber, monomers, chemical fractions, and high-octane gasoline additives. Synthetic rubber is used, among other things, in the production of solid rocket propellant for tactical and ballistic missiles.
In addition, an aircraft at Yeysk airfield in Russia's Krasnodar region was struck. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.
Earlier, reports circulated online that the Tolyattikauchuk petrochemical plant in Tolyatti, Samara region, had been attacked overnight on October 24.
A drone attack warning was issued in the Samara region early that morning, and the local airport suspended operations.
Last month, Ukrainian drones also struck the Tolyattikauchuk plant in Russia's Samara region.
The facility was also attacked in June this year.
