Background
Ukrainian defenders have been pushing Russians out of certain areas of the Kursk region for two weeks. They continue their offensive and destroy important Russian targets.
Today, August 22, The Times reported that Ukrainian defenders have used US HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems in the Kursk region to destroy bridges and more.
At the same time, US officials refused to comment on whether Ukraine could use the weapons provided by Washington during the operation in the Kursk region. They urged journalists to seek comment from the Ukrainian side.
But, as US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller noted, Ukraine's actions in the Kursk region do not violate Washington's policy.
The US restricts Ukraine from striking Russian territory. In particular, Ukrainian defenders are not allowed to use American weapons for long-range attacks on Russia.
