Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) struck an oil facility in Russia's Yaroslavl region overnight, more than 700 kilometers (435 miles) from the Ukrainian border, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.
An oil facility in the Yaroslavl region that was part of Russia's state reserve system was damaged. According to Zelenskyy, it was specifically selected as a target during the overnight operation carried out by the SBU.
A separate strike targeted the Tula region, hitting the Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk. The facility is linked to the production of explosive materials.
Air raid alerts in 28 regions
The scale of the overnight operation included:
- Air raid alerts declared in 28 Russian regions;
- Flight restrictions introduced at six Russian airports;
- Additional strikes carried out against Russian military logistics on temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

What Zelenskyy said
"There are good results from our warriors in applying long-range sanctions against important targets on the territory of Russia and the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine," the president said.
According to him, Ukraine is carrying out its long-range strike plan and responding to Russia's refusal to end the war.
"We offered Russia's leadership every possible format for negotiations, and the only response was continued aggression and attempts to expand it. It is only logical that the war is returning to where it came from. Ukraine needs peace. Glory to Ukraine!" Zelenskyy wrote.
Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) added that the Temp oil depot is used to store gasoline, diesel fuel, and other petroleum products.
"From here, Russia supplies petroleum products to its northeastern regions and maintains strategic fuel reserves for military needs," the statement said.
Following the drone strikes, a major fire broke out at the oil depot. At least three large fires were recorded in the tank storage area, which contains 60 storage tanks.
As previously reported by RBC-Ukraine, drones also attacked the Spetstorg Plus oil depot in Rybinsk near Yaroslavl overnight, setting the facility on fire. Footage of the blaze circulated online.
Meanwhile, according to RBC-Ukraine sources, the overnight attack on the Azot chemical plant in Novomoskovsk triggered a major fire and sent thick smog rising above the facility.
