On December 25, Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in the Rostov region of Russia with Storm Shadow cruise missiles, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

"Today, December 25, units of the Ukrainian Air Force successfully struck the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in the Rostov region of Russia with Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missiles," the statement says.

Numerous explosions were recorded in the area of the refinery, and the target was successfully hit. The extent of the damage to the Russians is being clarified.

Separately, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery is one of the largest suppliers of petroleum products in southern Russia. The refinery also directly supplies petroleum products to the Russian army in Ukraine, in particular diesel fuel and aviation gasoline.

"The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to take the necessary measures to undermine the military and economic potential of the Russians and force Russia to stop its armed aggression against Ukraine," Ukraine's General Staff adds.

On the afternoon of December 25, the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery was attacked once again. Up to 10 explosions were heard at the plant, and a major fire broke out, as confirmed by Russian authorities and open sources. The plant was put out of operation as a result of the attack.

In addition to the refinery, on the night of December 25, long-range drones of the Security Service of Ukraine's Alpha Special Operations Center struck two important oil and gas sector facilities in Russia, in the port of Temryuk and in Orenburg. Tanks containing petroleum products caught fire in the port, and a gas processing plant in Orenburg was shut down.
