Ukraine strengthens U.S. defense-industrial base - Pentagon
Thanks to the military support of Ukraine, the US has updated its defense and industrial complex, the US Department of Defense reports.
The support of Ukraine by the USA caused an unprecedented mobilization of the defense-industrial complex. Industrial enterprises across the country have increased production and provided the equipment and capabilities necessary to fulfill US obligations.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the United States has provided Ukraine with military aid in the amount of about 44 billion dollars. This assistance included both the transfer of existing military equipment from the stockpiles of the US armed forces and the purchase of new equipment from industry.
If any equipment is withdrawn from the existing US stockpile, it must be replaced to maintain the combat capability of US military units. The US Department of Defense has pledged to allocate almost 17 billion dollars for the purchase of new equipment instead of what was sent to Ukraine.
US defense contractors are not only producing new equipment to replace what was sent to Ukraine but are also expanding their production facilities to meet the growing demand for military equipment. The US Department of Defense has allocated more than 10 billion dollars for these purposes.
