Ukraine seeks way to free civilians held by Russia - Zelenskyy

Ukraine is preparing lists of political prisoners and journalists for exchange with Russia. However, this issue requires a special format, since exchanges of civilians are impossible, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says during a conversation with the media on July 24.
"We have been approaching this issue for a long time. I think this is an important aspect. These are civilians - political prisoners and journalists. We have started working on lists. And you know that we cannot exchange civilians. They must release civilians. Therefore, we are now looking for a format for the lists. Both from our side and from their side," the president said.
Ukraine-Russia talks
Ukraine and Russia have already held three rounds of talks in recent months.
The next meeting took place on July 23 again in Türkiye. Before the talks began, the head of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, noted that Ankara was ready to join the monitoring of a possible ceasefire in Ukraine.
During the dialogue, the parties agreed on a humanitarian exchange of over 1,200 people.
More details about the new round of talks in Istanbul can be found in the RBC-Ukraine report.
