Ukraine's South Defense Forces explain Russian choice of ballistic strikes on Ukraine
Recently, Russian forces have been relying on ballistic strikes when attacking Ukraine. And there are several reasons for this, according to the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk.
"The enemy has chosen the tactic of using ballistic missiles from the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea. These are different platforms compared to the Kalibers," he said. "First and foremost, of course, this includes the Iskander-M."
According to the spokesperson, Russia's tactic is primarily explained by the characteristics of ballistic weaponry.
"This platform is mobile, it's movable, so the time for deployment is short, just minutes, and even less for folding. Therefore, they chose to use ballistic missiles now - the speed is different, and the reaction time is shorter," explained Pletenchuk.
Therefore, as he noted, the danger lies in the use of missile weapons specifically from the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Shelling of Ukraine
Russian forces shelled Ukraine overnight on May 4, using drones and S-300 missiles. In particular, the occupiers attacked Kharkiv. Four people were injured, including a child.
Additionally, Russian forces attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region. An infrastructure object was damaged in Pavlohrad, and two people were injured.
It is worth noting that in total, the enemy launched 13 drones and four missiles. All drones were shot down by air defense systems, but not without fires.
