Ukraine's Security Service strikes three Russian oil refineries in one night, nearly 1,600 km away

Ukraine has launched another long-range strike on strategic Russian facilities. Three oil refineries in Bashkortostan were targeted, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
According to the president, SBU units struck infrastructure at three Russian oil refineries in Bashkortostan on the night of August 1. The facilities are located nearly 1,600 kilometers from Ukraine's state border.
"These refineries process millions of tons of oil each year. Thank you for your precision! We continue applying our just pressure. Our long-range sanctions plan is being implemented step by step," Zelenskyy said.
The SBU clarified that long-range drones struck infrastructure at Bashneft-UNPZ, Bashneft-Novoil and Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim. The facilities are part of Bashneft and form one of Russia's largest oil-refining clusters.
The facilities have a combined processing capacity of more than 23 million tons of oil per year. They produce gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, lubricants and other products that, according to the SBU, are used to meet the needs of the Russian military.
In addition, Ukrainian drones struck three Podlet-K1 radar stations and one Kasta-2E2 radar system in Russia's Krasnodar Krai. The systems are used by Russian forces to detect aerial targets.
The SBU stressed that oil refineries are legitimate military targets because they supply fuel to the Russian military and generate significant revenues used to finance the war against Ukraine.
Earlier, Ukraine's General Staff also reported strikes on a storage facility for unmanned naval boats in Crimea, two railway bridges, a radio reconnaissance unit of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, a repair base and warehouses containing drones used by Russian forces.
Ukrainian drones also sank the Russian container ship Yanina in the Black Sea overnight. The vessel was owned by FESCO, a company that is part of the Rosatom structure.
