Ukrainian drones sink Rosatom's Yanina cargo ship in the Black Sea

The Russian container ship Yanina sank in the Black Sea after being attacked by Ukrainian drones. The vessel was owned by FESCO, a company that is part of the Rosatom structure, according to Strana Rosatom, an industry publication of the Russian state nuclear corporation, as well as a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to the Russian side, the attack occurred about 130 nautical miles from Novorossiysk. Two Ukrainian drones attacked the Yanina, which is operated by FESCO, a transport company owned by Rosatom.
Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said the Yanina was an "ordinary peaceful container ship" carrying civilian cargo, from food to construction materials.
According to him, the vessel began sinking after sustaining damage, but all 17 crew members were rescued.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the Yanina had been hit. According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces struck facilities supporting Russia's war effort.

"Middle strikes were carried out overnight, with successful hits in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. A sanctioned Russian container ship, Yanina, sailing under the Russian flag and with a capacity of more than 100,000 tons, was also struck. Thanks to the precision of our Defense Forces, it was sent to the bottom," the president said.
We remind you that on the night of August 1, Ukraine's General Staff reported a series of successful strikes on Russian military targets in Crimea and the Black Sea.
The strikes hit a storage facility for unmanned naval boats, two railway bridges, a radio reconnaissance unit of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, a repair and maintenance base, and warehouses containing drones and materiel and technical supplies used by Russian forces.
