Ukraine's Parliament Committee supports Umerov's removal as State Property Fund Chairman Rustem Umerov (Vitalii Nosach, RBC-Ukraine)

The Committee on Economic Affairs of the Ukrainian Parliament (Verkhovna Rada) today, September 4th, supported the dismissal of Rustem Umerov from the position of Chairman of the State Property Fund, according to Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak.

"The Committee on Economic Affairs has supported the dismissal of Rustem Umerov from the position of Chairman of the State Property Fund," the announcement states.

According to the MP, a vote on this decision is expected to take place in the Rada.

Background

After a series of scandals related to the procurement of military products and ammunition by the Ministry of Defense at inflated prices, the media and politicians began to report about the resignation of Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov.

On September 3rd, sources from RBC-Ukraine reported on the dismissal of Reznikov and the appointment of Umerov to his position. Later, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed this information.

Recently, it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada was expected to vote tomorrow on the dismissal of Reznikov and Umerov from their positions as heads of the Ministry of Defense and the State Property Fund.

Rustem Umerov

Umerov was born in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, into a family of immigrants from Alushta, Crimea.
