Ukraine's MFA on security guarantees: Inspired by UK, other countries eager for similar agreements
There is already a range of countries that want to sign a security guarantee agreement with Ukraine, announces the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba.
"There are already such countries (that want to sign an agreement on security guarantees - Ed.). I won't reveal the surprise, but it must be acknowledged that the British example inspired several countries to negotiate such an arrangement and to make it more powerful than they initially planned," he says.
According to the minister, the agreement reached with London is important not only in itself but also because it gave "a powerful impetus to others."
"I assure you that soon you will see new signings," Kuleba says.
He adds that he knows the content of the announced agreement between Ukraine and France.
"But let's wait for events to unfold. France has demonstrated over these two years that it firmly stands on the side of Ukraine," the minister says.
Security agreement between Britain and Ukraine
On January 12, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, during his visit to Kyiv, signed an agreement on security guarantees with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Thus, Britain became the first country to sign such an agreement with Ukraine.
The agreement provides guarantees of financial, military, and other types of support.
